Stuff-a-bus 2008

The 21th annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign will run through the month of November.

Each year, CityLink, Friendship House and Kroger join hands to gather enough food during the month of November to stuff a City-Link bus. This year Fox 43, WMBD, CIproud.com, Regent Broadcasting, Willies, EHS 120-05, The Bradley University Experience class & RiverPlex will join the endeavor.

Collected food is then distributed throughout the year through Friendship House’s Emergency Food Pantry. Last year, Friendship House distributed 2,262 bags of food, serving nearly 40,000 meals. To put this in perspective, the food collected during the month of November provided one meal to everyone in a city of 36,000 people with leftovers for over a 100.

On Wednesday, November 12th and Wednesday, November 19th, CityLink commuters can ride the bus for free in exchange for a non-perishable food item. On Wednesday, November 26th from 10:00 A.M. - 2 P.M. there will be a trolley at the transit center to collect food items. Anyone donating a non-perishable item will receive a free 2009 CityLink Peoria Historical Calendar.

Area Kroger Stores will be participating in the Stuff-A-Bus event again this year. Kroger Stores will have pre-bagged food donations available to make giving even easier.
